We learn and rediscover our innate values to impact society

Job Description

Established in 1996, Life Community is a mid-sized social service agency serving children and youth from low-resourced, vulnerable and at-risk backgrounds. Our vision is for every child to be the best that they can be, through our mission of empowering children and families through care and mentoring.

We are looking for compassionate Social Workers / Caseworkers to journey alongside children and youth with incarcerated parents through the island-wide Friends of Children & Youth (FOCY) programme.

The programme seeks to strengthen the socio-emotional wellbeing of children and youth, while enhancing family resilience through casework interventions, family programmes, and group work. These efforts aim to progressively reduce the intergenerational transmission of criminogenic risk factors.

If you are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children and their families, we welcome you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Casework

Conduct intake assessments and maintain accurate case management documentation for new referrals.

Maintain regular monthly case engagement through home visits, basic counselling, caregiver engagement, and stakeholder collaboration.

Receive close supervisory support in managing case crises in accordance with sectoral ethical guidelines and frameworks.

Partner with community stakeholders (e.g. Family Service Centres and schools) to support families with complex needs.

Support families in navigating the social service ecosystem through referrals and access to subsistence resources.

Assist in programme evaluation, data collection, analysis, and reporting to support continuous service improvement.

Programmes and Group Work

Facilitate and support child/youth-centred mentoring interventions, including collaborating with volunteer mentors to implement client care plans.

Work with corporate partners to plan, organise, and implement fun-driven enriching programmes and activities for children/youth, and their families.

Compliance and Best Practices

Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with organisational policies, ethical standards, data protection and regulatory requirements.

Demonstrate a continuous learning mindset through active participation in regular individual and group supervision sessions, contributing to reflective practice and shared professional learning.

Requirements – Experience and Competencies

Possess a Graduate Diploma or Degree in Social Work or a related discipline.

Have at least 2 years of experience in casework management; experience working with children and youth will be an added advantage.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build genuine connections with children, youth, and their caregivers.

A collaborative team player who works well with internal and external stakeholders to achieve meaningful programme outcomes.

Resourceful, dependable, and able to work independently while managing multiple responsibilities with confidence and care.

Enjoys being on the move and engaging families through home visits across the community.

Passionate about journeying with children and youth, and believes in the power of positive role modelling to inspire change and resilience.
