Position Title: Dietitian

Duration: Full-time, ongoing

Base Salary $110,496 to $116,111 p.a. as per Classification (P2.1-2.4)

The Dietitian works in a multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality, culturally safe services that meet the needs of Danila Dilba clients with a focus on chronic conditions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Provide contemporary and culturally appropriate dietetic services including assessment, treatment, planning, and evaluation.

Maintain quality client medical records.

Work collaboratively with the Allied Health team to provide holistic allied health services that meet the needs of DDHS clients.

Supervise Indigenous Allied Health Assistants and support skill development.

Manage caseload and client bookings to ensure timely, coordinated service delivery.

Contribute to public health nutrition activities including the development of local, culturally responsive education resources and provision of group dietetic services.

Contribute to reporting for DDHS and funding bodies, taking responsibility for accurate content and reporting deadlines.

Contribute to effective clinical governance arrangements and service improvement processes that ensure high levels of quality and safety and evidence-based practice.

Provide expert advice to assist chronic disease program development and to contribute to professional development of DDHS staff.

Support and supervise student placements.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

· Understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal community control and self-determination.

· Tertiary qualification in nutrition or dietetics that enables eligibility for Accredited Practicing Dietitian status.

· Demonstrated knowledge and experience providing high-quality dietetic services to older clients in a community setting.

· Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

· Demonstrated understanding of the primary health care context, principles of chronic disease prevention and management and goal-directed care planning.

· Understanding of the issues and barriers that affect the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

· Well-developed interpersonal skills with a strong client focus and the ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with other health professionals and agencies.

· Demonstrated competence in e-health record systems and office software applications.

High level written and oral communication skills.

Desirable

Experience working in the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector.

Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team.

Experience in delivery of group-base interventions.

Experience implementing public health nutrition strategies.

Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory.

IN RETURN WE OFFER

6 weeks annual leave (pro-rata).

5 days paid leave during end-of-year shut down (additional to annual leave).

Salary packaging up to $15,990 per annum, plus additional packaging options.

EMPLOYMENT IS SUBJECT TO

Willing to undergo a Police Check.

Ability and willingness to obtain a Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).

Current driver's licence.

Current CPR certificate or the preparedness to gain one within 6 months of commencement.

Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or an exemption as listed on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) be submitted.
