APAC FM have been engaged to source an experienced Senior Cost Manager on behalf of a globally recognised consultancy delivering some of Australia's largest and most technically complex data centre developments.

This is an opportunity to work on major hyperscale and mission-critical projects from inception through to delivery, partnering with leading developers, operators and investors within one of the fastest-growing sectors in construction.

We are seeking a commercially astute Cost Manager who can take ownership of project financial performance, provide strategic cost advice, and drive value throughout the entire project lifecycle.

The Opportunity:

Working within a high-performing project team, you will be responsible for the commercial and cost management of major construction projects, ensuring budgets, procurement strategies and commercial outcomes are effectively managed and controlled.

You will act as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders while supporting the successful delivery of large-scale data centre developments.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare & manage detailed cost plans, budgets & estimates throughout project delivery

Lead pre-contract and post-contract cost management activities

Manage tendering, procurement and bid evaluation processes

Review and assess contractor submissions, variations and claims

Develop and maintain accurate cost reporting and forecasting

Drive change management processes and commercial risk mitigation strategies

Undertake value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives

Manage contract administration, final accounts and commercial close-out activities

Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets

Provide commercial advice and reporting to clients, project teams and senior stakeholders

Support dispute resolution and commercial negotiations where required

Ability to operate autonomously while managing multiple project priorities

MRICS, AIQS or equivalent professional accreditation highly regarded

About You

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline

Proven experience as a Cost Manager, Senior Cost Manager or Commercial Manager within a consultancy, client-side or major contractor environment

Strong experience managing large-scale construction projects valued at $100M+

Experience across data centres, mission-critical facilities, major infrastructure or complex commercial developments will be highly regarded

Strong understanding of procurement, contracts, cost planning and commercial management principles
