Taree Universities Campus (TUC) is seeking an enthusiastic and student-focused Academic Support Officer to provide academic and study support to students undertaking university and tertiary education in the Mid Coast LGA NSW.
This rewarding role will work closely with students from enrolment through to graduation, providing campus and individual support, workshops and learning programs that enhance student engagement, confidence, retention and academic success.
The successful candidate will have strong academic skills, experience supporting learners, excellent communication abilities and a genuine commitment to improving educational outcomes for regional communities.
The Role
Award – Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) Award 2020 (MA75) General Staff Level 5-9 (according to qualifications and experience)
Hours – Flexible casual or part-time, approx. 20 hours per week
Duties –
Provide one-on-one academic and study support (orientation, constructive feedback to support the development of academic skills, completions)
Deliver workshops and learning programs
Assist students to navigate university systems, and relevant digital platforms and requirements
Support student wellbeing, engagement and retention
Build relationships with universities, schools and community partners
Promote opportunities available through Taree Universities Campus
From time to time this position may be assigned additional tasks within skill level, competency, and experience, to meet short-term operational needs.
About You
You will be an organised, approachable and motivated professional with experience supporting learners in a tertiary or educational setting. You enjoy helping others succeed, can communicate complex information clearly and are committed to creating positive educational outcomes for regional students.
Essential Requirements
Relevant undergraduate qualification
Strong academic literacy and research skills
Experience supporting students in an educational environment
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Current Driver Licence, Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or ability to obtain)
Desirable
· Undergraduate degree in humanities (e.g. Education, Arts, Social Sciences, Linguistics)
· Experience working with/in universities and/or TAFE.
· Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
· Current First Aid / Mental Health First Aid Certificates
· Postgraduate degree
