This is a newly created position due to an internal promotion, offering the successful candidate significant long-term career progression opportunities.

About the Role

This role will see you apply your legal knowledge and liability expertise in an underwriting environment, managing a portfolio of complex Casualty claims with a particular focus on Construction Liability.

Key responsibilities will include:

Managing Casualty claims from initial notification through to resolution, with a strong focus on Construction Liability, including personal injury and product liability

Investigating claims, interpreting policy coverage, assessing liability and negotiating settlements

Working closely with Solicitors, Loss Adjusters, Brokers, Underwriters and other key stakeholders

Providing technical advice and claims insights to Underwriters to support sound underwriting decisions

Building strong relationships across the business and with external stakeholders

Contributing to a high-performing, collaborative claims and underwriting environment

About You

We are interested in speaking with lawyers who have a strong interest in insurance, liability and claims and are looking to take their career in a different direction.

You will ideally have:

A Bachelor of Law degree with 2-3 years' experience managing Casualty/Liability claims, including Personal Injury or Property Damage

Experience in defendant insurance litigation or liability matters, with lawyers looking to transition into an in-house insurance role strongly encouraged to apply

A completed Diploma in Legal Practice will be highly regarded

Strong understanding of liability, coverage and claims principles

A commercially minded approach with the ability to assess complex issues and make sound decisions
