As the Design Draftsperon for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), on an 18 month fixed term contract, you’ll be responsible for providing and supporting the design of a vessel from concept through to delivery, on time and on budget. .

What’s Involved

• Produce accurate, high-quality drawings and documentation in line with company standards and procedures.
• Maintain well-organised, up-to-date, and easily traceable design files and records.
• Ensure all designs comply with regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and internal standards.
• Follow established processes with a strong focus on precision and minimising rework.
• Manage your workload to meet deadlines and support on-time project delivery.
• Coordinate design inputs from third parties, ensuring all information is complete and effectively integrated.
• Communicate clearly with stakeholders through drawings, reports, and regular updates, while providing technical support as needed.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies, reducing waste, and supporting innovative design outcomes.

You’ll Need

• Formal drafting qualifications or equivalent
• Proficient in drafting software, AutoCAD, Shipconstructor and Microsoft Office Suite
• Basic understanding of materials and their compatibility in a marine environment
• Skilled in 3D modelling
• Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance
