Sports Coaches & Umpires – Casual Opportunities Across Melbourne

Melbourne Sports Institute is seeking passionate and reliable Sports Coaches and Umpires to support interschool competitions across Melbourne.

We work with schools to deliver high-quality sporting programs that promote participation, skill development, and a positive sporting experience for all students—from beginners through to competitive athletes.

About the role

As part of the Melbourne Sports Institute team, you will play an important role in supporting school sport by:

Coaching and developing student athletes

Umpiring interschool fixtures

Creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging sporting environment

Acting as a professional and reliable representative at school venues

Opportunities are available across a wide range of sports and are scheduled in line with Victorian school terms.

Minimum 2-hour payments for coaching sessions

Superannuation for coaching roles

Ongoing opportunities throughout the school year

Availability

Shifts are available:

Before, during, and after school hours (Monday–Friday)

Saturday mornings (in line with interschool competitions)

Staff are offered roles on a weekly basis, with full details provided in advance including location, time, and pay rate.

About you

We’re looking for individuals who:

Have a strong understanding of their sport(s)

Are confident working with young people

Communicate clearly and act professionally

Are reliable, punctual, and organised

Previous coaching or umpiring experience is valued, but a positive attitude and passion for sport are essential.
