About Street Side Medics

Street Side Medics is a registered charity and GP-led mobile medical service providing primary healthcare to people experiencing homelessness or vulnerability.

We partner with established homelessness charities, shelters and community services to deliver regular mobile medical clinics across Sydney and Melbourne. Our clinics are supported by more than 400 active volunteers who are at the heart of our organisation.

Our vision is to deliver better health and wellbeing outcomes for people who may otherwise experience barriers to accessing healthcare.

About the role

We are seeking a highly organised and people-focused Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator to join our team in a newly created permanent full-time position.

Reporting to the Volunteer Manager, you will coordinate the end-to-end volunteer recruitment process and help provide a professional, welcoming and efficient experience for applicants, volunteers and internal stakeholders.

You will manage candidate communication, interview coordination, volunteer records and recruitment administration, while working closely with managers to support the ongoing growth of our volunteer workforce.

The position will also attend clinic sessions for volunteer inductions and occasional check-ins, including some evening clinics.

Key responsibilities

Manage volunteer recruitment activities, including advertising, screening, interviewing and candidate communication.

Coordinate interviews, calendars, confirmations, interview materials and recruitment logistics.

Administer the volunteer email account and volunteer management platform.

Maintain accurate volunteer records, application statuses and recruitment documentation.

Work with managers to understand volunteer requirements and support recruitment decisions.

Attend clinics to assist with volunteer inductions and engagement.

Coordinate the ordering and distribution of volunteer uniforms.

Provide general administrative support to the Volunteer Manager and broader team.

About you

You will be a proactive and approachable coordinator who enjoys connecting people with meaningful opportunities.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Experience coordinating recruitment, onboarding or people-related administration.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience using applicant tracking, volunteer management or similar database systems.

Strong attention to detail when maintaining records and documentation.

Confidence coordinating multiple calendars, interviews and stakeholders.

A commitment to social justice, inclusion and community-centred practice.

Flexibility to occasionally attend evening clinic sessions.

A qualification, or current study, in human resources, communications, health or a related area would be beneficial but is not essential.

A current C Class Driver Licence is also desirable.

What we offer

Flexible work arrangements supporting work-life balance.

Not-for-profit salary packaging, subject to eligibility.

Paid parental leave.

A supportive, collaborative and enjoyable team environment.

The opportunity to contribute to meaningful health outcomes for people experiencing homelessness and vulnerability.
