Architecture for Landscapes

At Acre, we don’t see landscape architecture as the simple adornment of the built form.

We understand that good landscape design must be delivered with the same rigor, consideration, restraint and clarity as the architecture, in order to achieve a harmonious, rich and vibrant outcome.

That philosophy has guided every project we have delivered since 2012 and continues to shape the way we design today.

We’re looking for someone who believes in the same.

Not simply an experienced landscape architect, but someone who wants to help lead projects, mentor talented designers and contribute to a studio that genuinely cares about producing exceptional work.

Why This Role Matters

This isn’t a replacement drafting role.

This is one of the most important positions within our studio.

As Acre continues to grow, we’re looking for someone who can become one of our key project and design leaders. Someone who enjoys leading conversations, solving complex problems, building trusted relationships and helping younger designers develop their confidence.

You’ll work directly with our Creative Director and Associate Director, leading projects from concept through to construction while helping shape the future direction of the practice.

If you’re looking for genuine responsibility, influence and autonomy, you’ll find it here.

The Work You’ll Help Create

Our projects are intentionally diverse.

From luxury residential estates and architecturally designed homes to multi-residential developments, hotels, public spaces and significant civic projects, every project presents a different opportunity to create landscapes that feel timeless, considered and deeply connected to their architecture.

We don’t chase trends.

We focus on proportion, materiality, planting and detail that will still feel relevant decades from now.

If that excites you, you’ll fit in well.

The Kind of Person Who Will Thrive Here

You’ll probably have around ten or more years’ experience, but experience alone isn’t what we’re looking for.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys leading rather than following.

Someone who naturally builds confidence in clients.

Someone who notices details others overlook.

Someone who enjoys sitting around a table with architects, consultants and builders solving problems together.

You don’t need to know everything.

You do need to enjoy learning, mentoring others and taking ownership.

The strongest candidates will bring:

Outstanding design judgement.

Excellent construction detailing experience.

Confidence presenting to clients and consultant teams.

Experience delivering projects through every stage, from concept to contract administration.

Strong consultant coordination and project leadership skills.

A collaborative mindset and genuine interest in mentoring younger designers.

A passion for architecture and beautifully resolved landscapes.

Experience with Vectorworks is advantageous, but we’re far more interested in how you think than which software you’ve used.

What You’ll Help Build

You’ll lead projects from concept through to construction while helping elevate the capability of the entire studio.

Your role will include:

Leading projects independently across all project stages.

Presenting design ideas to clients, architects and consultant teams.

Coordinating multidisciplinary consultants.

Producing and reviewing high-quality documentation and construction detailing.

Mentoring landscape architects and graduates.

Protecting Acre’s design quality throughout every stage of delivery.

Identifying opportunities to improve systems and project delivery.

Building lasting relationships with clients and collaborators.

Contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

Why Designers Join Acre

We’re deliberately a boutique practice.

That means your ideas won’t disappear into layers of management.

You’ll work directly with experienced designers, contribute to meaningful discussions and have genuine influence over the projects you help create.

We also believe great work comes from people who have balance.

That’s why we offer:

9-day fortnight.

One work-from-home day each week.

Paid birthday leave.

Competitive salary based on experience.

Beautiful Collingwood studio.

Diverse projects across Australia.

Team lunches, design excursions and workshops.

A supportive, collaborative studio culture.

Direct access to studio leadership.

Real opportunity for professional growth and future leadership.

This Probably Isn’t The Right Role If…

You’re happiest documenting someone else’s ideas.

You avoid client meetings.

You prefer waiting for direction instead of making decisions.

You don’t enjoy mentoring others.

Or you see construction documentation as the end of the design process.

We’d Love To Meet You

Please send us:

Your resume.

A portfolio featuring three to five projects you’re genuinely proud of.

A short cover letter telling us why those projects matter to you and why Acre interests you.

We’re far more interested in understanding how you think than simply seeing what you’ve produced.

If you’re looking for a studio where you’ll have genuine influence, work on exceptional projects and help shape landscapes that stand the test of time, we’d love to hear from you.
