About the opportunity:
As part of an organisational restructure, we have created a new opportunity for a Mine Geology Superintendent, bringing together key technical leadership responsibilities to strengthen support for our mining operations.
Reporting to the Project Manager, we are seeking an experienced Mine Geology Superintendent to provide technical leadership and lead the geology function at the Buzzard Iron Ore Mine. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in the safe, efficient and profitable delivery of mining operations, working closely with the Technical Services, Mining and Processing teams.
About the Role
As Mine Geology Superintendent, you will be responsible for leading all operational geology activities, including:
Leading and mentoring a team of mine geologists and geological technicians.
Maintaining grade control models to support short and medium-term mine planning.
Overseeing ore control, stockpile management and reconciliation processes.
Providing timely geological advice to mining and technical services teams.
Driving continuous improvement in geological systems, reporting and data management.
Supporting life-of-mine planning through resource interpretation and geological input.
Working collaboratively with operations to maximise productivity and product quality.
About You
To be successful you will have:
A degree in Geology.
A proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement.
Demonstrated leadership experience in operational mine geology within an iron ore operation.
Strong understanding of grade control, ore reconciliation and geological modelling.
Experience with geological software, Surpac, Datamine or similar (Surpac preferred).
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Current Australian driver's license.
Ability to work an 8/6 FIFO roster.
Desirable
Experience in iron ore operations.
Knowledge of mine planning and reconciliation systems.
Experience with database management and geological reporting.
Exposure to mentoring and developing geology teams.
