About the role

MMD Recruitment is partnering with a reputable and well-established civil and utilities contractor to appoint an experienced Project Manager for major infrastructure projects across Sydney.

The contractor is a recognised Sydney Water delivery partner, with a strong pipeline of civil, water and utilities projects. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for a capable Project Manager who can take ownership of project delivery from planning and mobilisation through to completion.

You will be responsible for safely delivering projects on time, within budget and in accordance with client, quality and contractual requirements. The role offers long-term career stability, exposure to significant infrastructure works and the opportunity to join an experienced and supportive delivery team.

Key responsibilities

Manage the end-to-end delivery of civil, water and utilities infrastructure projects.

Develop and maintain project programs, budgets, resource plans and delivery strategies.

Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and client representatives.

Monitor project progress, productivity, costs and commercial performance.

Manage project budgets, forecasts, variations, claims and monthly reporting.

Ensure works are delivered in accordance with Sydney Water requirements, project specifications and relevant Australian Standards.

Identify project risks, constraints and potential delays and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.

Lead project meetings and provide clear progress updates to clients and senior management.

Ensure all health, safety, environmental and quality requirements are maintained across the project.

Manage procurement, subcontractor engagement and the timely delivery of materials and equipment.

Support and mentor engineers, supervisors and other project team members.

Maintain accurate project records, documentation and contract correspondence.

What we are looking for

Minimum five to seven years’ experience delivering civil, water or utilities infrastructure projects.

Demonstrated experience working as a Project Manager, Senior Project Engineer or similar delivery-focused position.

Experience delivering Sydney Water projects or working within the water infrastructure sector will be highly regarded.

Strong understanding of civil construction, utilities, pipelines, drainage, earthworks and associated infrastructure.

Proven ability to manage project budgets, forecasts, programs, variations and subcontractors.

Strong commercial awareness and contract administration experience.

Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.

Current Australian driver’s licence.

Full Australian working rights.
