Located in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, Mirikai is one of Queensland's leading residential alcohol and other drug treatment services. Supporting people through withdrawal and recovery, Mirikai provides a structured, therapeutic environment where clients can focus on rebuilding their lives and working towards lasting change.

At Lives Lived Well, we've been supporting people impacted by alcohol and other drugs for over 50 years. We also provide services for mental health, gambling concerns, veterans' wellbeing, and people transitioning from correctional centres. As a values-driven organisation focused on clinical excellence and innovation, we're committed to supporting people to live their lives well.

Your Opportunity

We are seeking a part-time Kitchen Hand (19 hours per week) to join our team at Mirikai.

This is more than a traditional kitchen role. You'll play an important part in supporting the day-to-day operation of our residential service by helping provide nutritious meals in a safe, welcoming and well-organised environment.

Working closely with the Food Services Coordinator, you'll assist with food preparation, stock management, kitchen operations and food safety requirements. You'll also support residents who are involved in meal preparation and kitchen duties as part of their recovery journey, helping create a positive and respectful environment for everyone.

No two days are exactly the same. One moment you may be assisting with meal preparation or receiving deliveries, and the next you may be supervising residents in the kitchen, completing stock checks or ensuring food safety standards are maintained.

What Success Looks Like
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment.
  • Supporting the preparation and service of nutritious meals.
  • Ensuring food storage, stock rotation and food safety requirements are consistently maintained.
  • Building positive relationships with residents and colleagues.
  • Contributing to a welcoming environment that supports recovery and wellbeing.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider Mirikai team.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a busy kitchen environment, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and understands the positive role food can play in wellbeing and recovery.

You'll also bring:

  • Experience working in hospitality, catering, commercial kitchens or a similar environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety, safe food handling and kitchen hygiene practices.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands.
  • Confidence working independently while also contributing as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, reliable and proactive approach to work.

Experience working alongside people from diverse backgrounds or in health, community services or residential environments will be highly regarded.

You will also hold:

  • A current Australian Driver Licence.
  • Ability to complete a National Criminal History Check.
  • Food Safety qualifications or certifications will be highly regarded.
Why Work For Us?

At Lives Lived Well, you'll join a team that is passionate about supporting people to live their lives well. We value collaboration, continuous learning and creating an environment where our people feel supported to do meaningful work.

Benefits include:

  • Five additional paid wellbeing leave days each year (for eligible employees pro-rata)
  • Salary packaging to increase your take-home pay
  • Fitness Passport
  • Access to Perkbox discounts and benefits
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities
  • Supportive and inclusive team culture
  • The opportunity to contribute to one of Queensland's leading residential recovery services
