About the role
This role manages and grows the grain trading portfolio by executing contracts, monitoring trade flows, and driving business development across key global markets. It ensures accurate and timely execution of trades, compliance with company policies, and the creation of new opportunities through Mitsui's global trading network. The role contributes to trading profitability, risk management, and long-term customer/supplier relationships while enhancing Mitsui's overall value in the grain business.
Key responsibilities
Negotiate and execute sales and purchase contracts with suppliers and customers, ensuring compliance with company policies and agreed trade terms under the supervision of the General Manager and Deputy General Manager.
Manage day-to-day trading activities, including shipment scheduling, price adjustments, contract amendments, and futures trading.
Collaborate closely with logistics teams responsible for bulk cargo and container shipments to ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective delivery.
Monitor market risks and escalate complex issues to senior traders or management as necessary.
Identify and develop new business opportunities with existing and prospective customers and suppliers.
Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders to expand market presence and drive revenue growth.
Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities and support business strategy development.
Maintain and strengthen relationships with suppliers, customers, and brokers to support business growth and trading performance.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to leverage on international trading opportunities.
Share market insights and provide guidance and support to junior colleagues to strengthen team capabilities and foster professional development.
About you
Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Trade, Supply Chain, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of bulk Shipment commodity trading experience, preferably in grain business.
Experience in contract execution, market development, and regional/global trading required.
Strong knowledge of international trade flows, contracts, and incoterms.
Familiarity with futures, risk management, and credit processes.
Strong data analysis and market research skills.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
Analytical, detail-oriented, and commercially minded.
High level of integrity with a strong commitment to compliance and ethical business practices.
