We are seeking an experienced and motivated Wildlife Management Officer to support and implement wildlife management strategies that support sustainable production while protecting native biodiversity ensuring environmental stewardship, responsible land management and meeting environmental and regulatory obligations.
This role offers the opportunity to work across operations, collaborating with production teams, environmental specialists, Traditional Owners, government agencies, and research organisations to deliver practical wildlife management outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement wildlife management plans across company operations.
Monitor wildlife populations and assess interactions between wildlife, livestock, crops, and infrastructure.
Coordinate programs to manage pest animals and mitigate wildlife impacts using ethical, science-based approaches.
Support biodiversity conservation through habitat management and monitoring of native species.
Ensure compliance with environmental, biosecurity, animal welfare, and wildlife legislation.
Conduct environmental and wildlife risk assessments for existing and proposed operations.
Maintain accurate records and prepare technical reports for management and regulatory requirements.
Provide advice and training to operational teams on wildlife management, biosecurity, and environmental best practice.
Build positive relationships with Traditional Owners, neighbouring landholders, regulators, and community stakeholders.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that integrate sustainable agricultural production with environmental responsibility.
About You
You are passionate about practical conservation and understand the balance between commercial food production and environmental management. You enjoy working in the field, solving complex problems, and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
Degree in Wildlife Management, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Zoology, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in wildlife or natural resource management, preferably within agricultural, pastoral, or large-scale land management operations.
Knowledge of Northern Territory wildlife, ecosystems, and environmental legislation.
Experience with Pest Animal Management and biodiversity monitoring.
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work independently across remote locations.
Current Australian Driver License.
Willingness to travel and undertake field-based work.
Experience working in commercial agribusiness or pastoral enterprises.
Knowledge of biosecurity and livestock production systems.
Experience using GIS, GPS, remote sensing, or environmental monitoring technologies.
Animal handling and wildlife capture experience Including crocodiles
Held or experience with corporate licenses
Current First Aid certification or ability to obtain
