Early Years Talent is recruiting an experienced Centre Director for an established not-for-profit early childhood education and care service on Sydney’s North Shore.

Benefits include:

Excellent salary, well above award

Genuine autonomy over service operations and your working pattern.

An Exceeding-rated service with an experienced educational leader.

Administrative support and an established team of qualified educators.

Early Friday closures and service closures for Jewish holidays in addition to Australian public holidays

A stable, community-focused role without corporate layers or an area manager.

The current Director is retiring after many years with the organisation. The service needs a steady, capable leader who can support its educators and families, maintain compliance and protect the quality it is known for.

The priority is continuity, community and maintaining high standards—not rapid expansion or changing everything on arrival.

The role

You will be responsible for:

Acting as Nominated Supervisor and Responsible Person.

Managing staffing, rostering and operational coverage.

Supporting educators and addressing performance matters.

Maintaining compliance, policies and regulatory requirements.

Communicating with families and resolving concerns.

Working closely with the educational leader.

Supporting stable enrolments through quality service and community relationships.

There is no area manager or Assistant Director. You must be comfortable making decisions and taking responsibility, with support from the educational leader and an administrator.

About you

You may be an experienced Centre Director or an Assistant Director who has already carried substantial operational responsibility.

You will need:

Recent Nominated Supervisor experience or comparable operational responsibility.

Strong knowledge of early childhood operations and compliance.

Experience leading staff and managing performance concerns.

Confidence in communicating with families.

A calm, practical and community-minded leadership style.

An appreciation of not-for-profit or community-based organisations.

Formal qualifications in early childhood, business, leadership or another field will be considered. An early childhood teaching degree is not essential.

The service community

The service is connected to Sydney’s Jewish community and operates in accordance with Jewish cultural practices and its calendar.

You do not need to be Jewish. You must be comfortable working respectfully within this environment and building genuine relationships with children, educators and families.

Hours and location

This is a permanent full-time position based on Sydney’s North Shore, averaging 38 ordinary hours each week.

There is flexibility in how you structure those hours, provided appropriate opening, closing and responsible-person coverage is maintained.

Interested?

Apply with your current résumé.

Josh from Early Years Talent will contact suitable applicants for a confidential conversation about the role, your experience and whether the service is likely to be the right fit for you.

Suitable candidates will receive a detailed briefing before deciding whether to proceed to an informal meeting and centre tour.
