About the role
The SMT Machine Engineer is responsible for the operation, installation, qualification, maintenance, and optimization of SMT equipment used in PCBA manufacturing for optical transceivers. This role ensures equipment stability, uptime, and performance to support high-volume production.
Key responsibilities
Operate, install, qualify, and maintain SMT equipment
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM)
Ensure equipment performance in terms of uptime, availability, and throughput
Troubleshoot equipment issues and minimize downtime
Optimize equipment performance and utilization
Support new equipment introduction and acceptance (FAT/SAT)
Work closely with SMT Process Engineers and production teams
Maintain equipment documentation and maintenance records
Ensure compliance with safety standards and ESD requirements
About you
Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
5+ years of experience in SMT machine engineering
Hands-on experience with SMT equipment, including printer (solder paste printing), SPI (Solder Paste Inspection), Pick & Place machines (e.g., ASMPT SIPLACE or Panasonic NPM), reflow oven, and AOI systems
Expertise in equipment setup and calibration, preventive maintenance (PM), and troubleshooting and repair
Knowledge of equipment performance metrics (UPH, OEE, uptime) and process-equipment interaction
Strong troubleshooting and hands-on capability
Good coordination with production and process teams
Ability to work under time pressure
Experience with high-volume SMT lines preferred
