About the Position

The Community Development Officer plays an important role in delivering community programs, initiatives and events that enhance community wellbeing and promote social connection throughout the Shire. Working collaboratively with community stakeholders and the broader Community Development team, you will assist in the planning, coordination and delivery of activities that respond to local community needs.

This position is responsible for:

  • Planning, coordinating and delivering community programs, initiatives and events across the Shire.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with community groups, service providers and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting event promotion, logistics, set-up and pack-down activities.
  • Monitoring and evaluating programs to ensure effective and meaningful community outcomes.
  • Preparing reports, program documentation and administrative records.
  • Identifying emerging community needs and contributing to new initiatives and opportunities.
  • Supporting community capacity building through collaborative partnerships and engagement activities.
  • Travelling between Shire towns and participating in occasional evening and weekend activities as required.


About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience in community development, community services, event management, community engagement or a related field.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience coordinating programs, projects or events from planning through to delivery.
  • Strong report writing and record-keeping abilities.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Current C Class Driver's Licence.
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check and First Aid Certificate.
  • A proactive, community-focused approach and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
