Essential Criteria

Cert III in Horticulture or higher

Strong horticultural knowledge and hands-on experience

Disability support training including personal care or willingness to undertake

Experience supervising staff and working in a team based culture including contributing to team based decision making

Personal qualities: people-and-plants person who is calm, grounded and can lead by example,

Admin experience

Demonstrated passion and commitment to providing people with a disability real options for employment

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to connect with clients

Current Driver’s Licence

Current First Aid Certificate with CPR or willingness to complete

Current NDIS Clearance screening check or willingness to complete

Own reliable transport and comprehensive insurance

Desirable Criteria

Plant nursery experience

Willingness to promote and advocate for the nursery and its workers in the wider community

The successful person

To be successful in the role, you will be a people and plants person with experience supervising staff and working in a team based culture. You will have a desire to inspire and lead people, achieving team outcomes in a fast paced and challenging team environment.

The Role

As our Nursery Team Leader, you will oversee plant propagation planning and scheduling and lead a team of support staff and nursery hands living with a disability. You will be part of a dynamic team that has a positive impact on clients and communities.

Key duties include:

Supervise, support and work with other disability support staff, accommodating workflows while still being willing to make decisions and provide direction where needed including running regular check-ins and meetings

Oversee plant propagation planning and scheduling including monitoring stock levels and quality control

Supervise plant nutrition, the treatment of plant pests and diseases and oversee stock maintenance

Supervise the ordering and purchase of product inputs while adhering to budget allocations,

Hands-on support role including assisting participants with personal care and managing challenging behaviours

Supervision of the handling of shift notes, progress notes and monitoring the progress of participant goals and the effectiveness of their supports

Be active in advocating the rights of people with a disability

Communicating with team members, family members, advocates and other support services

Ensure risk and health and safety policies, procedures, regulations and legislation are adhered to including maintaining nursery quarterly safety checklist, material safety data sheets & safe work method statements.

Ensure that supports are provided in accordance with the National Disability Service Standards, NDIS Code of Conduct and other relevant legislation

Supervising the orientation and induction of new employees, volunteers and work experience placements

Explore new markets and liaise regularly with existing customers, packing and delivering orders, sometimes using your own vehicle

Assist manager with admin duties such as banking.

Hours & Remuneration

up to 45 hours per fortnight

Roster: Tuesdays 8.00am - 4.30pm (Week1), 8.00am - 3.30pm (Week2), Wednesdays 8.30am - 4.30pm (Week 1 & 2) & Fridays 8.00am - 3.30pm (Week1) 8.00am - 4.30pm (Week2)

Level 4 SCHADS Award. $58.38 p/hour (casual rate including 25% loading)

Salary packaging available of up $16,000 per annum tax free

6 month probation period
