About This Opportunity

The Manager, Payroll Compliance and Superannuation is a pivotal leadership role within HR Payroll Services, responsible for delivering high-quality payroll, superannuation, and employee benefits services that support the University community. You will ideally have experience with complex superannuation and defined benefit funds. Reporting to the Senior Manager, HR Payroll Services, you will lead a team of specialist professionals in a collaborative, customer-focused environment that values continuous improvement, operational excellence, and purposeful partnership. At UQ, you will be part of the professional services engine room helping to create meaningful change, supported by an inclusive, visionary and high-performing community.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the delivery of timely, accurate end-to-end salary, superannuation and employee benefits services that meet operational needs and service standards.
  • Drive strategic reviews of payroll and benefits services, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, compliance and client experience.
  • Build trusted relationships across the University and partner with HR specialist teams to enhance service quality and consistency.
  • Lead payroll projects, system enhancements and process improvement initiatives using data to strengthen service delivery.
About You

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced and collaborative leader who combines deep payroll expertise with a passion for service excellence and continuous improvement.

You will demonstrate:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Business, Human Resources or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience.
  • Proven experience leading payroll or HR services teams delivering complex transactional services within strict operational timeframes.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll operations, including Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements, Superannuation, PAYG, Single Touch Payroll, WorkCover and Salary Packaging.
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance requirements, legislation and industry best practice.
  • Demonstrated experience using complex HR and payroll systems to support service delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build trusted and collaborative relationships.
  • A commitment to fostering a customer-focused culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
