This position is a fixed term full-time opportunity commencing 10 August 2026 until 28 January 2027 with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency.

About the Role

The Office of Bushfire Risk Management (OBRM) is looking for a new team member to contribute to our work. As the Bushfire Spatial Analyst you will be responsible for developing and maintaining methods, data and systems used to undertake spatial analysis of bushfire risk across Western Australia.

You will contribute to projects that develop and enhance the methods, data and systems used to assess bushfire hazard and risk across Western Australia. This work involves analysing and integrating a range of spatial datasets, supporting the development of innovative analytical approaches, and improving the efficiency and reliability of spatial analysis processes and tools.

To succeed in this role, you will need well developed GIS expertise and to be a good problem solver and communicator. You will be expected to contribute to a strong team ethos and work under supervision to achieve the team’s goals. You will have opportunities to develop relationships with stakeholders across the State and learn about fire management in diverse cultural, environmental and organisational settings.

Eligibility To Apply

You must be an Australian Citizen or hold permanent residency to be considered for permanent appointments or hold a working visa covering the term of the contract (proof must be provided with your application) to be eligible for this position.

National Police Certificate

A condition of employment for new employees of DFES is that a current National Police Certificate (less than 3 months old) is provided prior to commencement.
