As a Line Chef (Chef de Partie), you will be responsible for overseeing a section of the
kitchen, ensuring the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes in accordance
with company standards. The role includes supervision of junior kitchen staff, maintaining
food safety compliance, and contributing to kitchen operations, including menu input
and stock control.

Task & Responsibilities
As a Line Chef at the Moon you will be responsible for the following:
• Prepare and cook high-quality dishes according to recipes and presentation standards.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of junior kitchen staff, apprentices, and
kitchen hands.
• Manage a designated kitchen section (e.g., grill, sauté, larder, or pastry) during service
periods.
• Contribute to menu planning and development, including daily specials and seasonal
offerings.
• Ensure compliance with food hygiene and safety regulations (e.g., HACCP).
• Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering and inventory management.
• Control portion sizes and food costs while minimising wastage.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of your workstation and overall kitchen.
• Liaise with Head Chef and Sous Chef regarding service issues or kitchen operations.
• Assist in training new staff and maintaining high culinary standards across the team.
• Participate in kitchen briefings and contribute to process improvements.
Qualification & Experience
• Minimum 1 year full-time relevant experience as a qualified chef, ideally in a high-
volume or commercial kitchen.
• Formal qualification in Commercial Cookery (e.g., Certificate III/IV or international
equivalent) preferred but not essential if sufficient experience is demonstrated.
• Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food costing, and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and lead a small team within a fast-paced
environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work across various shifts including weekends and public holidays.
