A well-established and growing construction business is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join the team on a part-time basis (16 hours). Reporting directly to the Director and Office Manager, this is a broad, hands-on role that will suit a proactive and detail-oriented professional who enjoys taking ownership of the day-to-day finance function while supporting the wider business.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit team where your contribution will be highly valued and where you will have visibility across all areas of the business. Key responsibilities include:

• Data entry and processing of accounts payable invoices and receipts
• Credit card processing and bank reconciliations
• Updating and maintaining payroll records
• Monitoring overdue receivables and following up on outstanding payments
• Managing employee PAYG obligations
• Reviewing Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports
• Lodging and paying superannuation
• Preparing subcontractor payment summaries
• Assisting with year-end preparation and reviewing company data for tax returns with the external accountant
• Reviewing supplier rates and agreements
• Reviewing business outgoings and services, identifying opportunities to renegotiate costs and improve efficiencies
• Providing general administrative support to the business

What you'll need to succeed

• Previous experience in a Bookkeeper or Accounts Officer position, ideally within the construction industry
  
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, reconciliations, payroll and general bookkeeping practices
  
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  
• Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
  
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  
• Confident working closely with business owners and external stakeholders
