The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for an Operations Manager to lead a high-performing dangerous goods waste processing and logistics facility based around Campbelltown.

Role

You will be responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the facility, ensuring hazardous waste is received, classified, stored and dispatched in accordance with all environmental and regulatory requirements.
This is a hands-on leadership position requiring exceptional operational discipline, strong commercial acumen and the ability to lead a positive safety culture while driving continuous improvement across people, processes and plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day operations across the dangerous goods waste facility.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA, SafeWork NSW, Dangerous Goods and environmental legislation.
  • Oversee the safe receipt, classification, segregation, storage and dispatch of hazardous waste.
  • Manage transport scheduling, dangerous goods logistics and contractor performance.
  • Manage site budgets, labour planning and operational KPIs.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs to maximise plant reliability.
  • Maintain ISO Quality, Environmental and Safety Management Systems.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, regulators, suppliers and key stakeholders.

About You

A background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Chemical Processing will be highly advantageous. Candidates with previous experience as a Chemist, Chemical Process Engineer or within chemical manufacturing environments will be viewed favourably due to their understanding of hazardous substances, waste classification, chemical compatibility and regulatory compliance.

  • 5+ years' experience in Operations Management within a hazardous or highly regulated environment.
  • Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science or Business.
  • Experience within hazardous waste, chemical manufacturing, industrial processing, environmental services or industrial operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations and hazardous chemical management.
  • Experience managing operational budgets and P&L performance.
  • Strong production planning, logistics and resource management capability.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
