About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Administration Officer to join our Emergency Department on a casual basis. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about providing exceptional service to patients, visitors, and clinical teams.
The department offers a 24-hour comprehensive emergency service for adult patients, staffed by experienced emergency doctors, nurses, training registrars and house officers. The department provides care to adolescents and adults with a full range of acute illness and injuries including Medical, Surgical, Oncology, Orthopaedics and Gynaecological emergencies.
Salary range: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a Senior Administration Officer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality administrative and customer service support to patients, clinicians, and visitors. You will:
- Coordinate daily administrative functions, including patient admissions, discharges, and health fund checks.
- Manage reception duties, process payments, and maintain accurate records and data.
- Support rostering, scheduling, and stock control to ensure efficient department operations.
- Assist with meetings, audits, and project activities, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
About you
You’ll be an organised and proactive team player who brings professionalism, initiative, and a strong focus on service excellence. To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in an administrative role within a healthcare or hospital environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to patient-centred care.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Sound computer literacy, including intermediate Microsoft Office skills and familiarity with health information systems.
