About the WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Kimberley Ambulance Service
The WACHS Kimberley Ambulance Service (KAS) provides emergency ambulance services across approximately 300,000 square kilometres of Western Australia. Our Registered Paramedics are based at three main healthcare sites across the beautiful Kimberley Region.
In addition to responding to emergency 000 ambulance calls, Paramedics at KAS work within the hospital emergency department, offering the unique opportunity to apply clinical skills in a multidisciplinary clinical team setting.
About the role
We're offering an exciting opportunity for Paramedics to broaden their clinical skills in a unique hybrid role, combining Emergency Department support with 000 Emergency Ambulance Services.
This role is available as a full-time FIFO position, operating on a 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off roster for excellent work-life balance. We will consider casual FIFO option, with flexible swings ranging from just a few days to up to three weeks.
Shifts are 10 hours in duration and may include day, night, or rotating schedules, depending on the roster. The role may rotate across three key locations in the Kimberley region: Derby, Fitzroy Crossing, and Halls Creek.
Accommodation is provided at each site during your swing.
Mandatory qualifications, certifications, and competencies (or demonstrated bookings):
Minimum three years on-road Paramedic experience, including at least one year with a State/Territory Ambulance Service
Unrestricted AHPRA registration
Employed as a Paramedic within the past year
Current unrestricted driver's license
Advanced Life Support (ALS) or ACLS certified or hold Jurisdictional Ambulance Service Authority to Practice. (Essential)
Confident in delivering clinical training and support to other healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, etc.)
Current WA Working With Children's Check (WWC) (or ability to obtain)
National Police Clearance under 6 months old (or ability to obtain)
Experience working as a solo clinician
Experience with aboriginal communities (Essential).
Desirable qualifications:
TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent
Authority to practice as a Critical/Intensive Care Paramedic
4WD experience/certification
Experience working within remote communities
Experience, skills, and attributes:
Self-motivated, able to work both independently within a defined scope of practice and as part of a multi disciplinary clinical team
Substantial experience with administration of medications according to protocol
Proactive and customer orientated approach to service delivery
Team orientated nature and excellent communication skills
Satisfactory level of computer literacy, administration, and report submission
Well organised and skilled in communicating with people
Excellent personal presentation
Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures and perspectives.
Familiarity with cross-cultural communication principles and best practices.
Please note that medical checks, reference checks, and clinical verification of competency will be undertaken prior to employment.
Location and Remuneration
Sites are located in Derby, Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek. You may be asked to travel between locations.
