About the Role

As our new Advisor, you will play a key role in providing high-quality industrial relations advice, supporting policy development, and contributing to outcomes that benefit the NSW public sector workforce. This role sits in the Public Sector Industrial Relations team, within the Industrial Relations Branch, which is part of the People and Workforce Group. The team leads the development of industrial relations policy, provides strategic advice to government and supports public sector agencies in delivering fair and effective workplace practices.

In this role, you'll help shape and implement industrial relations strategies that support public sector reform, contribute to managing complex matters, and advise senior stakeholders including the Minister and Premier's Department Executive. You'll work across a broad range of priorities, including policy development, dispute resolution, stakeholder consultation, and representing the Industrial Relations Secretary in appropriate forums and tribunals.

We're looking for an enthusiastic candidate who can demonstrate:

  • Strong Writing Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in writing clearly and concisely, and ability to contribute to the drafting of reports and Government policy papers.
  • IR Knowledge: Working knowledge and understanding, or the ability to quickly acquire an understanding, of workplace legislation, awards, agreements, and public sector IR frameworks.
  • Tribunal and Dispute Experience: Confidence representing organisations in industrial forums and supporting dispute resolution processes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in IR, Law, Human Resources, or Public Policy is desirable.
