Clinical Assessor Delegate Pathway
Looking to make a real impact in aged care in 2026? Start Here…
The aged care sector is evolving fast - and so are we. At ACNA, we're growing to meet the increasing demand for high-quality aged care assessments and we're inviting passionate clinicians to join our Aged Care Clinical Assessor Delegate Pathway.
Whether you're ready to step into a delegate role having completed the MAC Assessment Delegate training Goal 7 or you're an experienced Community Aged Care Clinical Assessor with current MAC accreditation, this is your opportunity to build a meaningful career that supports older Australians to maintain their independence.
Join ACNA's Aged Care Clinical Assessor Delegate Pathway
**If you meet all the criteria for the Clinical Assessor – Delegate role (as stated in the Position Description that you'll find in our advertisement at ethicaljobs.com.au) you may be considered for direct appointment to the role.
Alternatively, our Aged Care Clinical Assessor Delegate Pathway offers two (2) levels:
Begin as an experienced Community Aged Care Clinical Assessor (CA) with current MAClearning ACAT Pathway accreditation, working directly with clients in the community, assessing to understand their needs, and creating support plans that help clients to live independently.
After successfully completing 12 months with us, our CAs become eligible to train as a Clinical Assessor – Delegate. Upon promotion, you'll apply the clinical judgment, assessment and communication skills, so valuable in your CA role, to support, review, and refine assessments. Now your role is to help drive quality improvements and consistency in support plans across the aged care assessment program.
This is as a fantastic opportunity for our clinicians to progress from conducting assessments to impacting on how assessments are completed and supported for our clients.
Here is a typical week for a Clinical Assessor:
Picture yourself travelling to a client's home, learning about how they live and supporting them to identify strategies and supports that help maintain their independence. Now picture doing this with multiple clients a day, each day of the week – and the impact you will have on each person's life. This is part of our Aged Care Assessment (ACA) program (formerly known as ACAT or ACAS assessments).
Your warm personality, existing skills and experiences, complemented by extensive training and support enable you to convert your client interactions into meaningful support plans documented using digital tools as guided by ACNA's Active Assessment method.
You love driving. The reality of our role in the community is that we spend a lot of time driving between clients and listening to many podcasts, audio books and Taylor Swift (okay, Taylor is not for everyone).
Dip into learning experiences and team experiences to expand your knowledge, networks and career.
Having walked the Clinical Assessor pathway, in the Clinical Assessor – Delegate role you will:
Complete My Aged Care - Assessment Delegate certification training.
Play a critical role in ensuring the quality, consistency, and integrity of aged care assessments across Australia. Operating under the delegated authority of the Aged Care Act 2024, you will be a decision-maker—reviewing, approving, and finalising comprehensive assessments and support plans submitted by Clinical Assessors.
Use your clinical expertise and people skills to coach and support our assessors in the field and apply sound judgement to review and approve client assessments and support plans.
Contribute to quality assurance and governance activities by shaping best practice across the assessment process.
Connect with teams across regions and embrace working remotely using telephone and video.
Grow your knowledge, networks and career pathways through rich learning and team experiences
