This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team working on the rehabilitation of the former Rum Jungle Mine Site, located in the Northern Territory.
Nestled alongside the pristine Litchfield National Park, rehabilitation of the former Rum Jungle Mine site will showcase leading practice techniques and an evidence-based approach.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Land Management Coordinator to lead a small team of Land Management Technicians in delivering land management programs for the Rum Jungle Rehabilitation Stage 3a Project. The role is responsible for overseeing a range of activities including monitoring environmental metrics, revegetation, fire mitigation, and weed management, as well as preparing quality, evidence-based reports. The successful candidate will ensure that all programs are delivered to a high standard, in line with contemporary rehabilitation practices and relevant legislation such as the Environmental Protection Act (NT) 2019.
The ideal candidate will hold tertiary qualifications in land management, horticulture, conservation, or a related discipline, and have proven experience applying effective land management and remediation models in a mining context. A sound knowledge of local flora, fauna, and abandoned mine rehabilitation methods and processes is essential, along with demonstrated capability in project and risk management within a health, safety, and environmental framework. Strong understanding of equity and diversity principles, occupational health and safety, and records management is also required.
This position requires excellent team leadership and relationship management skills, with a focus on developing and coaching staff towards transferable skill goals. The Coordinator will actively support training, development, and participation opportunities for Land Management Technicians and the broader Traditional Owner group, ensuring culturally sensitive and inclusive engagement in all activities. Extensive cross-cultural awareness and the ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal communities are key to success in this role.
