We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Public Space Safety Officer to join our team!
What You Will Do:
As a Public Space Safety Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe and positive environment across our city’s public spaces, parks, and community facilities. Your day-to-day work will involve regular patrols, community engagement, and proactive action to discourage anti-social or illegal behaviour. You will also collaborate with Council teams to assist vulnerable community members, respond to incidents, and protect Council assets from damage or vandalism.
This is a hands-on role where every day brings something new, from helping a resident feel safer in their local park, to supporting outreach programs or assisting with the deployment of mobile CCTV units.
What We Are Looking For:
Current “C” class driver’s licence with the ability to independently drive between business locations to meet operational needs.
Current Blue Card (Qld’s Working with Children Check) or ability to obtain. (No Card No Start).
Demonstrated experience in policing, security, community safety or a related field.
High level of written skills including the ability to draft reports and routine correspondence.
Demonstrated ability and physical capacity to undertake a variety of strenuous physical tasks.
Ability to understand and assess risks associated with the unpredictability of human behaviour.
Ability to relate in a courteous and diplomatic manner, particularly in dispute situations.
High level of communication skills, including face to face negotiation and interpersonal skills.
