About the role
We’re looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our Newcastle laboratory at Carrington.
You’ll be part of a small, collaborative team that values teamwork, curiosity, and continuous learning. The role involves working across different sections to support the laboratory’s analytical processes — from sample receipt and preparation to maintaining high-quality standards in analysis.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, learning new skills, and growing within a leading environmental laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, check, label, and register samples accurately in the laboratory system.
Carry out sample preparation, including filtration and sub-sampling of water and soil samples.
Support wet chemistry and instrumental analysis under the guidance of senior staff.
Maintain laboratory records, equipment, and work areas in accordance with QA/QC requirements.
Participate in laboratory housekeeping, waste management, and stock control.
Assist with sample receipt duties, including checking Chain of Custody documentation, and coordinating incoming and outgoing sample logistics.
Opportunity to learn and gain experience in field sampling.
Occasionally assist with sample deliveries or collections – a current driver’s licence is essential.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is:
Organised and detail-focused, with good problem-solving skills.
A team player who enjoys learning and supporting others.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Competent with computers and confident entering data accurately.
Interested in science or laboratory work – previous lab experience is ideal but not essential.
Holds a current driver’s licence.
At Envirolab Group, you’ll be part of a supportive team environment led by industry experts. We are client-focused and pride ourselves on our excellent reputation. You will have the opportunity to contribute to our success while advancing your career in a dynamic setting.
