As a Coordinator, International Student Support, you will:

  • Oversee the provision of international student support services across all campuses, including to lead, motivate, coach and develop International Student Support Officers and providing direct support to international students which help address their personal, wellbeing and learning needs including those with more complex and multiple needs
  • Provide best practice support to international students consistent with the national regulations (including ESOS) and Deakin policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with members of Student Health and Wellbeing, as well as Student Services staff by actively sharing information to foster improved referrals and process improvements to support the International Student Support Officers and international students
  • Provide effective management, support and administration relating to Government sponsored programs (e.g. Australia Award), including coordination of student support and case management, government reporting and ensuring accurate financial records and accountability of funds
  • Foster an effective, positive team environment and to build and maintain strong working relationships with staff within the team as well as stakeholders including staff, students and community providing timely information to facilitate an effective and collaborative approach to the development of events, programs and activities

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Experience in supporting international students with personal, wellbeing and learning needs, with a strong customer-service focus, demonstrated cultural sensitivity and strong understanding of cross-cultural communication
  • Knowledge and understanding of the expectations on the education provider under the ESOS Act 2018 for international students
