As our Senior Cultural Heritage Officer you will provide high level cultural heritage (both Indigenous and historical) technical expertise and guidance and identify options and solutions to support the planning, design, construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure. You will also perform some program management functions and demonstrate ability to apply cultural heritage principals and methodologies to projects including Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) projects.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Fulfil the role of cultural heritage advisor on multiple project delivery teams, providing cultural heritage risk assessments, advice and management services as part of the implementation of regional programs, including the planning, design, construction and maintenance of QTRIP projects and associated regional operations.
• Promote, foster and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Traditional Owner groups, concerned with the management of cultural heritage relevant to the department's interest.
• Provide information and advice to stakeholders on relevant legislation, departmental policy, procedures, and requirements for cultural heritage management.
• Develop and implement new systems and procedures to improve cultural heritage management performance within regional operations and also within the wider Department.
• Identify, develop and deliver training packages to ensure that relevant stakeholders have an awareness of cultural heritage management requirements.
• Work collaboratively as part of the Environment and Cultural Heritage team and contribute to the team's identified responsibilities and behaviours.
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
• A bachelor's degree in Cultural Heritage Management, Archaeology, Anthropology, Architecture, Social sciences or Law from a recognised tertiary institution or qualifications which, in the opinion of the Director-General of the Department of Transport and Main Roads are equivalent.
• Current holder of a Class C driver licence.
• Must be eligible to work in Australia.
