Mechanical Draftsperson - Industrial Refrigeration
Australian Refrigeration Services & Engineering are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Draftsperson to join our industrial refrigeration design team. In this role, you’ll work closely with engineers and project managers to produce accurate technical drawings and 3D models for refrigeration systems used in large-scale industrial and commercial refrigeration applications. Australian Refrigeration Services & Engineering is a well-established Industrial Refrigeration Contractor that specialises in refrigeration systems in cold storage and food & beverage manufacturing facilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated draftsperson who enjoys hands-on design work, technical accuracy, and collaboration across engineering and fabrication teams
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings for refrigeration systems, including piping layouts, pressure vessels, skid assemblies, and component fabrication.
Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation for manufacturing and installation.
Produce P&IDs, isometrics, and schematic drawings in coordination with design engineers.
Work collaboratively with engineers to translate conceptual designs into practical and efficient mechanical layouts.
Ensure all drawings comply with relevant codes, standards, and safety requirements (e.g., AS/NZS, ASME).
Update and maintain drawing revisions and document control within the company’s CAD system.
Liaise with workshop, fabrication, and installation teams to resolve design or construction issues.
Assist in developing standard drawing templates and component libraries to support consistent documentation.
Participate in site visits for measurement, and verification when required.
Skills & Qualifications:
Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Drafting (or equivalent).
Proven experience in mechanical drafting, preferably within the refrigeration, HVAC, or industrial piping sectors.
Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor.
Sound understanding of pressure piping, welding symbols, mechanical part assemblies and fabrication processes.
Ability to interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and equipment specifications
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, clear, and compliant drawings.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to pass a medical examination
Australian residency/citizenship
