Location: ASEWB Centre , Adelaide CBD (temporarily at other Sonder sites during centre fit-out)
About the Role:
As our Mental Health Lead, you’ll play a pivotal senior leadership role in shaping and delivering culturally grounded, community-led mental health services within the Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Centre, which proudly opened in September. As the Centre and team continue to grow and evolve, you’ll have a unique opportunity to be part of building and shaping the services, culture, and direction of this important new initiative. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you’ll provide strong clinical leadership that honours Aboriginal culture, guiding a dedicated mental health team and ensuring seamless collaboration across Social and Emotional Wellbeing and Traditional Healing pathways. You’ll champion culturally safe, trauma-informed, and holistic care, supporting a whole-of-life and whole-of-family approach, while driving self-determination, integrating lived experience, and upholding human rights at every level of service delivery.
Experience Requirements:
- Demonstrated leadership experience in mental health services, ideally within Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary clinical teams, provide supervision, and ensure high standards of clinical care and cultural safety.
- Experience designing and delivering culturally informed, trauma-informed mental health programs and services.
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing frameworks, clinical governance, and risk management.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, communication, and interagency collaboration within mental health or community settings.
- Understanding (or willingness to develop understanding) of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, community dynamics, and the role of self-determination in service delivery.
Qualification and Other Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, or a related field, with eligibility for professional registration.
- Additional qualifications in clinical supervision or leadership are highly regarded.
- Current or willing to obtain a Working with Children's Check (WWCC)
- Current or willing to obtain a National Police Check (NPC)
- Working with Vulnerable People Check
