About the Role:

As our Mental Health Lead, you’ll play a pivotal senior leadership role in shaping and delivering culturally grounded, community-led mental health services within the Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Centre, which proudly opened in September. As the Centre and team continue to grow and evolve, you’ll have a unique opportunity to be part of building and shaping the services, culture, and direction of this important new initiative. You’ll champion culturally safe, trauma-informed, and holistic care, supporting a whole-of-life and whole-of-family approach, while driving self-determination, integrating lived experience, and upholding human rights at every level of service delivery.

Experience Requirements:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in mental health services, ideally within Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary clinical teams, provide supervision, and ensure high standards of clinical care and cultural safety.
  • Experience designing and delivering culturally informed, trauma-informed mental health programs and services.
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing frameworks, clinical governance, and risk management.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, communication, and interagency collaboration within mental health or community settings.
  • Understanding (or willingness to develop understanding) of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, community dynamics, and the role of self-determination in service delivery.

Qualification and Other Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, or a related field, with eligibility for professional registration.
  • Additional qualifications in clinical supervision or leadership are highly regarded.
