We are a furniture retailer that unloads about 100 containers a year (2 per week) and delivers around 2,000 orders annually (8 per day). The Warehouse Storeperson ensures our operations run smoothly and our made-to-order products are handled with care. While the workload is manageable, attention to detail is crucial to ensure customers receive their orders in perfect condition.

The Warehouse Storeperson is responsible for the efficient daily operations of the warehouse, focusing on the receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods. This role involves the accurate picking, packing, and unloading of furniture containers, ensuring inventory is managed effectively and all safety protocols are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations:

Picking and Packing: Accurately pick and pack furniture orders to meet daily delivery schedules, ensuring all items are handled with care.

Unloading Containers: Participate in unloading furniture containers, ensuring goods are correctly handled, stored, and protected from damage.

Order Dispatch: Manage the dispatch process to ensure all furniture shipments are sent on time, focusing on safe handling and transport.

Reverse Logistics: Receive, process, document, and store furniture items returned from customers, ensuring they are managed efficiently and stored properly.

Warehouse Maintenance and Safety:

Warehouse Organization: Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse environment by participating in daily upkeep tasks, focusing on the safe storage and movement of furniture.

Safety Protocols: Follow safety and security protocols, conducting regular checks, particularly in the handling and storage of large and heavy furniture items.

Inventory Control: Assist in monitoring stock levels of furniture, conducting regular stocktakes, and ensuring inventory accuracy and timely replenishment.

Process Improvement and Reporting:

Process Enhancement: Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce errors in furniture handling.

Reporting: Communicate warehouse performance, inventory levels, and safety compliance to management, ensuring transparency and alignment with operational goals.

Qualifications:

Experience in a warehouse or logistics role with a focus on daily operations.

Strong organisational and multitasking skills.

Knowledge of warehouse safety practices and inventory management.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Forklift licence.

Physical activity required, including lifting and operating warehouse equipment.
