  • Part Time (0.4 FTE), Fixed Term position (until 30th June 2026)

Your Opportunity

The young people who live in residential care and have complex needs leading to some difficulties in the education setting; therefore, the young people require assistance to re-engage with education, along with providing trauma informed strategies and support. Assistance may include building rapport, initiating meetings, attending care team meetings, collating and initiating the signing of enrolment paperwork, building relationships with stakeholders, filing and reporting and data collection.

Education Support Workers provide support for students living within a residential care home. This is achieved through:

  • Building rapport, supporting home staff, care team interactions, tutoring, school and learning readiness, education assessments, educational planning, enrolment support, and liaising with education bodies.
  • Creative and adaptive strategies that support a young person’s learning (specific to their goals and needs), while assisting in vocational, learning or school connections.
  • Consistent collaboration with other professionals in a wide variety of settings to obtain new connections, re-connections and positive outcomes for students.

Your Skills and Experience

A self-motivated, flexible professional that thrives when collaborating with others in a wide variety of settings, with the purpose of supporting students to re-connect and create positive educational outcomes. With trauma informed practices and experiences, this role requires a passionate person who can be a creative thinker and adaptable to cater to our diverse young people’s needs.

Experience in the following setting are desired:

  • Alternate/Wellbeing learning settings.
  • Justice settings.
  • Working with remote or marginalised communities.
  • Schools that have specialised settings for young people.
