Your contribution:
· Provide high level advice to project stakeholders and relevant client representatives with respect to agreement making, policy development and strategic positioning.
· Support the development of innovative policy that builds and reframes our relationships and delivers outcomes aligned to First Nations people rights and aspirations.
· Support projects and teams to ensure successful and timely delivery of outcomes in support of the Department's strategic direction.
· Provide advice including policy support and interpretation of the Native Title Act and Cultural Heritage Act and related departmental legislation, policies, practices and processes to senior management.
· Assist in the preparation and/or coordination of briefing notes, program plans, submissions, reports and correspondence associated with the program.

About you
· Demonstrated ability to effectively research, analyse and develop, policy related to the protected areas and First Nations rights.
· Demonstrated ability to develop policy options to resolve land management issues, preferably in an agreement making space or similar.
· A thorough knowledge of, or a demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire, relevant legislation including the Native Title Act and Cultural Heritage Act and the policy landscape addressing the rights and aspirations of First Nations people.
· Demonstrated experience supporting productive working relationships, particularly in working effectively with First Nations people.
· High level communication skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate with influence and negotiate confidently.
