Economic Development Queensland plays a critical role in unlocking land for housing supply both in Priority Development Areas (PDAs) and on surplus Government land.
EDQ is seeking an experienced Director to lead and develop the financial accounting and reporting team to deliver financial management reporting, financial services and systems to support the work of EDQ and ensure adherence to legislative, reporting and operational requirements, accounting standards and best practice. The team also provides direction and technical leadership on financial matters, including input into business case reviews for existing and new business.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) you will:
• Provide strategic and financial analysis and advice to the CFO and members of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), with respect to EDQ financial matters to deliver the long-term financial strategy with a focus on driving value.
• Lead the development and management of the Financial Accounting & Reporting team in its provision of efficient, effective and practical financial analysis, advice, system solutions, processes and operational support.
• Support the CFO and ELT in delivering strategic work programs for EDQ and actively contribute to and support major organisational strategies, ongoing process improvement and new business.
• Participate as a member of the senior leadership team providing strategic and professional advice on strategies and issues.
• Develop and respond to requirements for statutory reporting, government and management reporting, financial and cash flow analysis, support enterprise risk management and undertake due diligence research.
• Continually assess and mature EDQ's financial control environment to enhance stakeholder confidence in financial management services delivered.
• Develop a work environment which is accountable, fair and safe, whilst also promoting innovation, learning and effective cross collaboration across other business stream activities.
• Partner with stakeholders to ensure the ongoing success of financial management services delivered and maximise how these services support EDQ's broader objectives.
Success in the role will require the following:
• Demonstrated experience in providing financial analysis, reporting and advice.
• Proven ability to lead complex financial reporting and management processes.
• Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong leadership capabilities with a demonstrated ability to drive accountability.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or equivalent and a CPA/CA designation or equivalent will be highly regarded.
