Are you a purpose-driven legal professional looking to make a meaningful contribution? The Wheatbelt Community Legal Centre (WCLC) is recruiting for a Senior Solicitor to join the team!
This is a rare opportunity to join a small, passionate, and supportive team delivering vital legal services across the Wheatbelt region. You’ll work closely with the Principal Solicitor and provide advice and support in family law, family violence, minor criminal and civil matters, and criminal injuries compensation.

Our centre is based in Northam, a thriving country town in the Avon Valley just over an hour from Perth. About the Role
As a Senior Solicitor, you will:
Undertake the provision of professional, high quality legal advice, assistance and limited representation to clients in areas of family law, family violence matters, minor criminal, civil and criminal injuries compensation matters.
Support the Principal Solicitor to handle complex matters, mentor junior solicitors and restricted legal practitioners, and help lead legal service delivery and CLE efforts.
Undertake and develop delivery of the Outreach and Community Legal Education (CLE) Programs to regional hubs of the Wheatbelt, including delivering services to the magistrate’s court, support and services to local residents, and supporting other staff and volunteers with CLE activities (may include overnight stays on occasion).
Keep up to date with relevant legal developments and procedures by attending professional legal education programs and maintain an understanding of issues impacting the justice system and provide guidance and leadership to Wheatbelt community/stakeholders.

We encourage applicants who meet most of the following:
Eligible to practise law in Western Australia (must hold unrestricted practising certificate)
Demonstrated 5+ years’ experience in the provision of legal service delivery including representation, casework and advice in community-based areas of law, specifically the areas of family law, family violence, criminal law, minor civil and criminal injuries compensation.
Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with clients and other persons from diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a small team environment, including the supervision and support of less experienced or restricted practitioners, and to develop constructive partnerships with other community service providers.
Proficiency in the use of MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) to a legal practice and the capacity to quickly acquire competency in the use of Wheatbelt CLC’s client database; and
Current driver’s licence.
Successful applicants will also need a satisfactory National Police Check, Working with Children Check, and working rights in Australia.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary package: $110,000-$115,000 per annum plus superannuation.
Relocation Support Relocation payment of up to $5000 available.
Generous salary sacrifices provisions up to $15,900 per annum which can be used for various personal expenses.
