With the recent opening of our brand-new workshop in Hobart, we’re seeking an experienced and motivated Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our continued expansion and contribute to AJL’s reputation for quality service and technical excellence.
The Opportunity
As a Diesel Mechanic at our new Hobart site, you’ll be hands-on with diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of diesel engines, container-handling equipment, and heavy vehicles. You’ll play a key role in building our local presence and upholding AJL’s high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on diesel engines, heavy commercial vehicles, and equipment
Help implement workshop protocols, including safety, efficiency, and quality standards
Carry out diagnostics and troubleshooting with precision and attention to detail
Mentor junior mechanics and foster a supportive, high-performing team culture
Collaborate with the Workshop Manager to ensure smooth operations
Stay up to date with industry developments and apply best practices
About You
Minimum 2 years’ post-trade experience as a diesel mechanic (road transport experience desirable)
Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
Advanced diagnostics and repair capabilities; strong understanding of diesel and electronic systems
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well as a part of a team
Safety-focused, proactive, and eager to grow with a new team
