About the role

As our Project Design Manager, you’ll play an integral role in the design development and documentation of residential projects from concept through to construction. You’ll work closely with our Design Manager and external consultants to ensure accuracy, compliance and design integrity in every project.

On the daily you will:

Coordinate the production of accurate and detailed design documentation including concept siting, sales packs, preliminary and “For Construction” drawings.

Collaborate with the design management team to deliver design documentation aligned with the design intent, customer requirements and finish standards.

Liaise with external consultants (including structural engineers, building surveyors and fabricators) to ensure design coordination and constructability.

Ensure all drawings comply with Building Codes, Local Authority and Planning requirements, and the Small Lot Housing Code.

Support the design and construction teams by responding to RFI’s and ensuring documentation consistency with town planning approvals and permits.

Contribute to developing and maintaining SAW’s master house types and design documentation systems.

Participate in design and stakeholder meetings as required to meet project timeframes, cost and quality objectives.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Strong drafting ability with a sound understanding of building form, massing, functionality, materials and streetscape design.

Solid knowledge of the BCA, relevant Australian Standards, Small Lot Housing Code and Local Authority requirements.

Understanding of planning permits, overlays and state government planning policies.

Ability to determine site and pad levels, excavation and retaining wall requirements.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team and with external consultants.

Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to continuous improvement.

Professional presentation and high attention to detail.

Drafting experience within the residential construction sector.

Experience collaborating with structural engineers and other consultants through the design development phase.

Recognised drafting or design qualification (Diploma or equivalent).
