The Faculty of Arts and Society is seeking an innovative research active lecturer to build the teaching profile, research capabilities and community engagement related to programs in Indigenous Futures. The faculty is undertaking expansion and consolidation of all its programs across the spectrum of Indigenous Studies including languages, cultures, philosophy, and policy.
About the Position
As the Lecturer in Indigenous Futures – Yolngu Studies You will be working under the authority and guidance of a group of senior Yolngu advisers to the program, with whom you will keep in contact.
You will be responsible for the development and delivery of teaching and learning units by utilising both on-campus and flexible-delivery methods, and the engagement with scholarly work that informs teaching and learning in diverse educational contexts. You must have either a relevant qualification or substantial progress towards completion and an emerging research profile in a relevant discipline. As the Lecturer, you will have a background in working in Indigenous contexts and with Indigenous people to achieve agreed outcomes through teaching and/or research is required for this position. The position of Lecturer in Aboriginal Futures – Yolngu Studies needs the vision and energy to contribute through the development of high-quality research and partnership with educational programs across the Faculty, Charles Darwin University and with external partners. A research track record, teaching experience and relevant content experience would be an advantage.
About You
To be successful, you will require:
- A demonstrated knowledge of Yolngu Indigenous cultural, linguistic, political, and economic matters, particularly in relation to Yolngu Indigenous education and the application of the knowledge in current contexts locally and nationally.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and culturally ethically as a member of a team under Yolngu Indigenous authority. Recent teaching or professional experience in remote settings and Yolngu Indigenous communities.
- Strong and culturally appropriate interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to liaise with all levels of people from diverse backgrounds within an academic and/or professional environment.
- A demonstrated capacity to undertake relevant administrative responsibilities, including program coordination.
- Teaching experience.
- An emerging research profile of publications / research projects or progress towards a research plan in relevant discipline areas.
- Demonstrated strong communication with the capacity to develop, evaluate and maintain effective services to students and work collaboratively with teaching and support staff.
- Ability to manage unit (subject) delivery in internal and online modes including through on-line delivery platforms (such as Blackboard) in Indigenous studies and an understanding of the methodologies of teaching these specializations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students at all levels and across cultures and in particular with Indigenous students and communities.

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at HE Academic Level B. The base salary will be in the range of $116,429 - $137,659 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $136,221 - $161,061 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
