The Pastoral Leader supports the school's mission by leading pastoral practices for student welfare, ensuring programs promote Gospel values, supervising teacher practices, fostering partnerships with families and external entities, managing student behaviour, and overseeing resources effectively.

St Joseph's College Coomera is a Brisbane Catholic Education master planned co-educational College that opened in January 2019. Our first Seniors graduated in 2024. The College is located in Coomera on the Northern Gold Coast, 40 minutes south of the Brisbane CBD.

About the opportunity

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Providing leadership in pastoral care for a designated group of students, ensuring their well-being aligns with the school's mission and values.
  • Supervising teachers involved in student pastoral care, offering guidance and support for effective practices.
  • Facilitating the induction process for new teachers within your area of responsibility or overseeing their induction when handled by other experienced staff.
  • Monitoring students' holistic development, including their academic performance, social interactions, spiritual growth, and physical health, and addressing concerns through appropriate measures.
  • Coordinating efforts among staff focused on student welfare, fostering teamwork and aligning activities with the school's ethos.
  • Managing student behavior in line with the school's behavior management policies, promoting a safe and respectful environment.

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • Proven ability to provide leadership in pastoral care, ensuring the well-being of students aligns with the school's ethos and values.
  • Strong capability to monitor students' holistic development, addressing academic, social, spiritual, and physical concerns as necessary.
  • Knowledge of behavior management practices to promote a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Experience in organizing and overseeing pastoral activities such as camps, retreats, or enrichment events, collaborating effectively with relevant personnel.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, implementing best practices in student care and sharing insights with staff.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget planning and effective handling of material resources within your area of responsibility.

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
