Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

About the Role

We are seeking an inspiring and strategic leader to drive Aboriginal self-determination and cultural reform across Victoria's Courts Group. As Executive Director, Dhumba Murmuk Djerring, you will provide expert operational and policy leadership, build strong relationships across jurisdictions, and work closely with Aboriginal communities, the Aboriginal Justice Caucus, and judicial officers.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading engagement with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders to advance self-determination and improve justice outcomes.
• Providing strategic advice on Koori matters, including the Victorian Treaty process and Yoorrook Justice Commission recommendations.
• Building cultural capability and embedding self-determination across the Courts Group.
• Guiding major Koori-specific initiatives, cultural reform, and statewide programs aligned with the CSV Strategic Plan.
• Contributing a strong Aboriginal perspective to executive decision-making and governance.

This is a unique opportunity to lead transformative change within Victoria's justice system — empowering Aboriginal voices, strengthening partnerships, and shaping a culturally safe future across all courts and tribunals.

About You

You are a respected and strategic leader with deep knowledge of Victoria's Koori communities, culture, and the issues impacting Aboriginal people within the justice system. You bring cultural insight, authenticity, and the ability to influence meaningful change across the justice sector.

You will have:

• Lived experience as an Aboriginal person, bringing cultural authority, connection, and understanding to your leadership and expert understanding of Victorian Koori society, culture, and justice-related issues.
• Proven ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Koori communities and organisations.
• Senior leadership experience in a complex environment, with the capacity for sound judgement, cultural leadership, and strategic advice on organisation-wide issues.
• A demonstrated record of championing First Nations inclusion, empowerment, and cultural safety.
