The Company has progressed from its start-up phase to scaling up its operations and product reach, have expanded its resources in USA. Due to internal restructure, position has become available for Assistant Accountant to join the company at its headquarters in Hawthorn, VIC.
About the Role
This full-time role provides end-to-end accounting support, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records using MYOB AccountRight. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Team, reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller; and, on occasions work with Group CFO, and other departments to maintain smooth accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
Full AP Function:
• Maintain supplier master data and ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
• Prepare weekly and monthly payment runs, ensuring timely payment to suppliers and service providers
• Reconcile supplier statements and follow up on outstanding credits or issues.
• Support inventory and cost accounting by maintaining accurate records of materials and service purchases.
• Process payments of expense reimbursement claims of the staff and executives ensuring expenses claimed are within Group's policies and receipts and support documentation provided are accurate.
Full AR Function:
• Support the onboarding of new customers, including setting up accounting systems and processes
• Liaise directly with customers to provide bookkeeping support, answer queries, and resolve issues
• Prepare and issue invoices, statements, and payment reminders to customers
Other Bookkeeping and Accounting Duties:
• General ledger reconciliations across multiple group entities
• Inter-entity transactions and reconciliations
• Reconcile bank, merchant accounts, credit card, and loan accounts on a weekly/monthly basis across group entities
• Prepare Fixed Asset Reconciliation Journals and maintain the Fixed Asset Register
• Assist with the preparation and lodgement of BAS, IAS, and other statutory compliance obligations
• Assist with payroll processing, including superannuation, PAYG, and leave entitlements
• Prepare periodic management reports and assist in end-of-month and end-of-year processes including preparing and posting journals (including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments)
• Maintain accurate filing systems and ensure confidentiality of financial information
• Assisting with the implementation of new accounting systems and processes including support with transitioning to new ERP system.
• Liaising with external accountants and auditors as required
• Collaborating with the wider team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the continuous development of systems and workflows

Requirements
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in accounting or finance
• Minimum 5 - 7 years of relevant accounting, bookkeeping or finance experience.
To be successful in this position we are seeking candidates who can demonstrate the following:
• Experience in accounting for inventory and foreign currency accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
• Methodical and process driven, with strong attention to detail, ability to work autonomously and multitask
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Extensive experience with ERP systems
• Experience with MYOB preferred
• Experience with transitioning/upgrading ERP systems preferred.
• Candidates must be permanent residents or Australian Citizens with current Australian work rights.
