Aboriginal Education Liaison Officer (New Position)
Full Time – 38 Hours Per Week | Ongoing

About the Role
The Aboriginal Education Liaison Officer (AELO) plays a vital role in supporting Aboriginal students and their families by strengthening connections between culture, community, and education. The position focuses on providing culturally responsive support, advocacy, and mentoring to promote positive educational experiences and outcomes.
Working collaboratively with local schools, Aboriginal organisations, and key stakeholders, the AELO will ensure that the unique cultural needs of Aboriginal students are recognised and respected, and that any barriers to their learning and wellbeing are addressed.
This role also contributes to community engagement by supporting the delivery of cultural events and programs that celebrate Aboriginal identity and enhance educational participation. The position reports to the Team Leader – Early Years and supports the implementation of Aboriginal ways of working, quality standards, and strategic goals of Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative.
About You - Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
Qualifications and Registrations:
A Diploma in Community Services, Education or a similar discipline.
Knowledge and skills:
Strong knowledge and understanding of local Aboriginal communities, culture, and the role of Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative.
Experience working with Aboriginal students and families in educational or community settings.
Proven ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with schools, government agencies, and Aboriginal organisations to enhance learning opportunities.
Sound knowledge of The Marrung: Aboriginal Education Plan 2016–2026 and its goals for improving Aboriginal student outcomes.
High level of professionalism with the ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
Competence in using technology, including Microsoft Office, data entry systems, and online communication tools.
Strong interpersonal, advocacy, and communication skills, with a commitment to cultural safety and inclusive practice.
What We Offer:
Competitive pay and conditions based on the ACCHS Award – Level 4 Pay Point 1 based on experience and qualifications.
Salary packaging of $15,900 available for Part- or Full-time employees.
