Your Opportunity

We’re looking for a Mental Health Support Worker to join our team in the Central West region, including Longreach and surrounding communities. This full-time role is part of the Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program (CPSP), providing non-clinical, recovery-oriented support to adults experiencing severe mental health challenges and associated psychosocial functional impairment.

You’ll work one-on-one and in group settings to help people manage daily activities, build social skills, reconnect with community, and engage in education or employment. You’ll also support the program’s Coordinator in managing brokerage funding aligned with participants’ recovery goals.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver tailored, recovery-oriented supports in community settings
  • Facilitate small group activities focused on living skills, social connection, and wellbeing
  • Support clients to navigate services, including exploring NDIS eligibility
  • Assist with the coordination and distribution of brokerage funding aligned with recovery goals
  • Promote consumer participation and cultural inclusion across the region
  • Collaborate with local service providers and attend community events to promote the program
  • Maintain accurate client records using our electronic Client Management System
  • Provide feedback to the Team Leader on program implementation and quality

What you will bring

You’re someone who is passionate about mental health recovery and confident working both independently and as part of a team. You’ll also bring:

  • A Certificate IV in Mental Health, Community Services or a related field – or be working towards one
  • Experience supporting people with mental health challenges using a recovery-oriented approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with clients and stakeholders
  • A sound understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based practice
  • A current Australian driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly to outer communities
  • Confidence working autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team culture

Why Work for Us?

We’re committed to supporting our people so they can support others. You’ll enjoy:

  • Five extra days paid leave per year (pro rata)
  • Access to professional development, training, and supervision
  • A supportive, inclusive team culture
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your family
  • Opportunities to grow your career as we expand our services
