Who are we?

Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory.

We work to address the social determinants of health including the broader issues that affect our people's health, through evidence-based research and public advocacy. We also work to empower individuals, families, and communities to optimise their health.

About the role

As a General Practitioner you will participate in providing a range of culturally appropriate and comprehensive primary health care services to clients of Danila Dilba Health Service. You will be highly motivated and work confidently as an independent practitioner, whilst contributing to the provision of health services as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will assist in facilitating the health service, to provide a high-quality standard of primary health care.

Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality clinical services aligned with DDHS protocols and best practice standards.

Mentor and support Aboriginal Health Practitioners and other clinical team members.

Contribute to chronic disease management, preventative health, and health promotion programs.

Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to optimise patient outcomes.

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards, and accreditation requirements.

To be successful you will need:

Essential

Current registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner.

Fellowship of RACGP or ACRRM.

Demonstrated commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

Current NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card) and National Police Check (within 3 months).

Unrestricted working rights in Australia

• Medical Indemnity Insurance.

Desirable

• Experience supervising or mentoring medical or clinical staff.
• The ability to use Communicare.
• Experience in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services or remote/rural practice.
• Demonstrated competence in working with and understanding Medicare and the Practice Incentive Program.
