About the Position
The People and Performance team are looking for a dedicated and qualified Work Health and Safety Advisor on a two-year contract to support a safe and compliant workplace, fostering a strong safety culture. In this role you will work closely with our Infrastructure teams to deliver safety outcomes for our people and the organisation. You will provide ongoing support in the implementation and monitoring of the City's Safety Management System requirements with a specific focus on developing relevant safety documentation such as Safe Work Method Statements and supporting their implementation.
Additionally, this position will support incident and hazard investigations, the City's health & wellbeing program initiatives, workers compensation and compliance and maintenance of the City's ISO45001 accreditation.
Please note that the expected working hours for this position will be between 8am - 4pm in line with our operational employees, and the successful candidate will be expected to commence in January 2026.
To be successful in this position you will need to hold a recognised tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety with significant previous experience in a WHS role and be able to demonstrate:
- An understanding of the practical application of the Western Australian Work Health and Safety and Workers Compensation and Injury Management legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven organisational, time management and priority setting skills with high attention to detail.
- Incident Investigation Methodology (I-CAM) or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate and work with all levels of employees and a range of external stakeholders.
- Current 'C' Class Driver's licence.
- Current National Police Clearance.
