Newly created role - lead strategic change, strengthen safety culture, and implement safety systems that enable our people to thrive.

This is a Permanent Full-Time appointment.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager Work Health Safety to join our Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing (WHSW) team at the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS). This role is central to embedding both physical and psychological safety into our systems, ensuring our people go home safe every day.

At CAHS, safety is more than a priority—it’s our culture. This newly created role reflects our commitment to building strong, proactive safety systems that support the wellbeing of our workers while enabling them to deliver safe, high-quality care for children and families across WA.

Reporting to the Director WHSW, you will lead a talented team to, develop, and implement prevention and risk management activities, policies, procedures and practices that align with WHS legislation, codes of practice, and broader strategic priorities. Playing a key role in fostering a proactive, prevention-focused safety culture across the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS).

No two days will be the same. Your ability to engage workers and leaders at all levels will be essential in fostering a collaborative, prevention-focused safety culture that protects and promotes the physical and psychological health of our workforce. You will also partner with senior leaders and operational teams to proactively manage risks, oversee incident investigations, and provide expert advice on key hazard areas including psychosocial hazards, manual tasks, workplace wellbeing, and workplace violence and aggression.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert advice on WHS legislation, policies, and risk management.
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative safety solutions across complex healthcare environments.
  • Overseeing programs that address psychosocial hazards, manual tasks, workplace wellbeing, and workplace violence and aggression.
  • Partnering with executives, managers, and workers to embed safety into everyday practice.
  • Developing and maintaining WHS policies, procedures, and systems that align with legislation and organisational priorities.
  • Driving a high-performing, collaborative safety culture through mentoring, education, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitoring and reporting on safety outcomes, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.

We are looking for a proactive safety leader who can inspire others and set the standard for excellence in workplace health and safety. If you have demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary WHS and wellbeing teams, strong technical expertise in risk management, and prevention strategies, and an in-depth knowledge of WHS legislation we encourage you to apply.

About our Team

At CAHS, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to providing a safe, healthy, and supportive workplace so our workers can deliver the highest quality care to children, young people, and families across WA.

Based at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH), our Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing (WHSW) team champions a culture of safety and wellbeing across the organisation. We are dedicated to creating an environment where all workers feel supported, empowered, and confident to take responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others.

With a strong focus on both physical and psychological safety, we recognise that a healthy workforce is essential to achieving the best outcomes for the children and families we serve.
